The Excel Programme:
English Enrichment Class Primary
Learning English is a valuable skill that can support children’s development and set them up for a lifetime of success.
Enrol today and give your child a headstart in English
Learning English is mandatory in Singapore, so it’s important that every child receives the proper education and instruction as early as possible. At Jan & Elly, giving your child the best possible tools for success — both in school and beyond — is our main purpose. Our English Enrichment classes are split into two sections so that your child can receive a tried-and-tested education that plays to their strengths and grows with them.
The programmes are as follows:
- English Made Possible Foundation, ages 7-8.
- English Made Possible, ages 9-12.
In these programmes, children will grasp and develop fundamental English techniques with a focus on grammar, vocabulary, comprehension and writing skills that will give them a head start in school.
Are you preparing your child for the Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE)? Set them up for success by enrolling them in our English Enrichment programmes, where we tailor lessons and activities specifically to the PSLE so they’re ready to tackle the challenge when it arises.
No matter which stage of learning your child is at, we have a programme suitable for their skill level that will foster an excitement for lifelong learning.
Excel in English
Working towards the PSLE doesn’t have to be boring. In fact, children learn better when activities are memorable, engaging and fun. In our English Enrichment programme, we focus on English paper 1 and 2, which spotlight skills in:
- Comprehension.
- Grammar.
- Composition.
- Punctuation.
- Vocabulary.
When it comes time to write the PSLE, a student will be expected to demonstrate the following English language skills in correspondence with the above categories:
- Write clearly and effectively.
- Use correct expressions and tones in different contexts.
- Generate and express ideas.
- Use correct grammar, spelling and punctuation.
- Use vocabulary correctly, clearly and accurately.
- Read and understand a wide variety of texts.
At Jan & Elly, our teachers strive to ensure that students are ready to take the exam when the time comes.

Highly adaptive programming
The relevancy of our curriculum is top-of-mind for our teachers here at Jan & Elly. We’re always doing research and implementing changes to our programmes that ensure your child receives the best possible English language instruction in Singapore.
Your child will benefit from the extra care that we take to make sure our lessons and programming are always relevant. If we discover a new way of doing things, or uncover ways to increase the effectiveness of our programming, we will implement those ideas and strategies. Keeping lessons fresh and dynamic will help your child read, write, speak and comprehend English with great success.
Before joining their classmates in our primary level programmes, including both levels of English Made Possible, your child will go through a baseline assessment. This will give us a better understanding of their current capabilities so that we can place them in a level that makes sense for them.
Throughout these P1 to P6 programmes, your child will be challenged with advanced grammar and vocabulary skills that can help them become better communicators. We’ll cover things such as:
- Grammar.
- Comprehension.
- Composition.
The skills that children learn and any English enrichment activity conducted in these programmes are focused specifically on the PSLE. This programme is designed to complement each primary level at the regular primary schools, so that your child can go into the exam at the end of Primary 6 with the proper knowledge and confidence to succeed.

Our English Made Possible programmes are put together in a way that makes them engaging.
Students will learn fundamental English skills by playing games, such as team vocabulary challenges. Children can earn and redeem small prizes and rewards, which makes the learning exciting and encourages them to stay interested.
Some other fun activities include:
- Timed quizzes between teams where each is given 30 seconds to state the definition of a given phrase or word.
- Current affairs article discussions to develop critical thinking skills.
- Reading funny poems to engage children in appreciating the intricacies of the English language.
These fun little challenges are among many of the activities that help inspire students to keep learning and improving their English language skills.
